Club Umpiring Course – Free for all Members
UPDATE: We have confirmed a date, time and venue for the 2011 UCHC ‘Intro to Umpiring’ course.
This will be held on Thursday, 5th May beginning at 6:30pm, in the International Room of the UCSA Building (go up the main stairs, down the corridor to your right beside the Shelley Common Room, about halfway along. Doors are signposted). This will be presented in two sections: an introduction to the basics of umpiring including positioning, signalling, and rule interpretation; a short break during which refreshments will be provided; and a discussion forum where you can talk with the presenter about the rules and how they apply in any situation.
We remind our members that this course is free (funded mostly by grants, venue provided by UCSA) and an extremely useful opportunity for you, as a player, to get your questions about hockey answered by one of Canterbury’s top umpires.
The UC Hockey Club requires its members to umpire games on some occasions throughout the season. To make sure members are prepared for this, we offer a club-wide umpiring course each year, free to all members. The course involves basic umpiring training, however, we also look to provide more advanced umpiring training to all those interested in further developing their skills. Full details including dates to be confirmed in due course.
