UC Hockey Take ‘Best Sports’

After its most successful season in over four years, UC Hockey has received strong recognition for its efforts and accomplishments in the form of UCSA’s “Best Sports Club” award.

Proceeding to accept the award on behalf of the club, Prez Josh Bird remarked that it was the culmination of a long period of hard work from many within the club, and only a sign of things to come. Several other members of the club including committee were present to observe and celebrate the ceremony.
Although 2011 has presented challenges over and above those of the regular season, it has also been one filled with increasing success, with the club set to build its membership base and overall development, finding itself in a highly stable financial position compared to very recent history, and aiming to reach ever-soaring heights of achievement in the seasons to come.
All members of the club should be proud of their involvement in assisting the club to reach this stage, and perhaps reflect on increasing their role in this one of many rewards to come.

Other finalists in the ‘Best Sports’ category were ENSOC with multiple intra-university sports competitions catering to hundreds of student members, and UC Rowing, overcoming loss of facilities to attract 100+ members and continue their strong involvement in that sport.
Accompanying the award is a small financial prize which will be added to the club’s  accounts.
