While I’m sure this isn’t at the top of your mind right now, a quick note to let you know that all trials have been postponed indefinitely. Once we have had word from the CHA regarding re-opening of turfs and what impact the events of the last few days will have on the 2011 hockey season, we will make decisions on when to hold trials.

Following today’s devastating aftershock the UC Hockey Club extends our deepest sympathies to all those affected and wishes you all luck for the coming days.

We are not yet sure what the effect will be on trials – the first of which was scheduled to take place on Feb 26. The Canterbury Hockey Association have closed all turfs until further notice so we will keep you posted as events unfold both on this website and on Facebook.

Once again, our thoughts are with you all.

To all players wishing to trial for the Premier Men’s team this year, there will be a players meeting and training held on Thursday, February 17th at 5.45pm at the Rec. Centre on Campus. Please bring along a stick and training gear for an indoor training following the meeting. The schedule is as follows:

1. Welcome (Avinash Rao – Treasurer and Acting President)
2. Player Development Programme Information (Matt Ingram – UC Sport/Rec Centre)
3. Coach’s address (Simon Bate)
4. Skills training

The skills training will finish up at around 7.30pm.

UC Hockey has confirmed details for 2011 club trials and is pleased to announce the following trials schedule:

Men’s Prem/Reserve Trials – Saturday, Feb 26, 2.45pm to 5.30pm – Marist Park

The first trial held is for all men’s players wishing to trial for Premier Men’s or Premier Reserve (Div. 2 Teams). These two groups will trial together on this day.

Further High Performance Men’s Trials – during the week of Feb 28th to Mar 4th

Further high performance trials including a gym session and a fitness session will take place during this week for all Men’s Premier and Premier Reserve trialists. Exact details will be released at the first trial on Saturday, Feb 26th (see above).

Club Wide Trials – Saturday, Mar 5, 10.45am to 5.00pm – Nunweek Park

Club wide trials will be held in three sessions of roughly two hours as follows:

• Social Men’s (Div 3, Div 4, Midweek Open)  - 10.45am-1pm
• All Women’s – 12.45pm-3pm
• Premier Men’s/Premier Reserve Men’s Final Trial – 2.45pm-5pm

Post Trials Event – Evening of Mar 5

A club social event for all trialists and last year’s club members will be held following the final trial on Mar 5th. Details are to be confimed however this is likely to include free beverages, food and entertainment so keep your calendar free!
