Scholarships

The UC Hockey club aims to provide support for top players to play hockey with the club. The following page shows the scholarships currently available. Terms and conditions for all UC Hockey Scholarships are shown at the base of the page.

CV Walter Scholarship

This scholarship is named in honour of the late, great C V Walter. C V captained the Black Sticks at the 1948 Olympic Games and his association with the UC Hockey Club as both a player and coach spanned 54 years.

The scholarship is aimed at promising talent and is open to all players new to the club each year. It includes subs, gym membership and training gear. To apply for this scholarship, please click here. Applications close on February 28th each year for the following hockey season.

Keith Thompson Umpiring and Coaching Scholarships

‘KT’ is a former player and long-serving coach of the club. He is a former hockey and cricket international and an accomplished umpire. These scholarships include funding for aspiring coaches and umpires to take level one and two accreditation courses and a mentoring program to help in the recipients’ development. In return, the recipient is required to provide reasonable coaching services to the club while a member.

A varying number of these scholarships is available each year, depending on the number and quality of applicants. Terms and Conditions for all UC Hockey Scholarships

Some scholarships may require interviews with the committee or other club members. The awarding of each scholarship is subject to availability of funds and the Committee reserves the right to vary the value of any scholarship if deemed necessary. The Committee’s decision on all scholarships is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Late applications will not be accepted.
